The "AK-47" of Off-road Vehicles!
The UAZ-469 is an off-road military light utility vehicle manufactured by UAZ in the former Soviet Union. The vehicles were used by Soviet and other Warsaw Pact armed forces, as well as paramilitary units in Eastern Bloc countries, and also saw widespread service in Soviet state organizations that needed a robust and durable off-road vehicle.
The 469 was introduced in 1971 and is powered by a 2.5L in-line 4 cylinder gasoline/petrol engine with a 4 or 5 speed transmission. As there have been nearly no design changes since the original models, parts are inexpensive and very easy to obtain, and there are a host of aftermarket enhancements readily available. While they are very popular vehicles in Russia, you will be hard-pressed to find another one running around in North America.
